DESTIGMATIZING MENTAL ILLNESS:
General Awareness Social Campaigns
Ideation
Starting from the overall education program: FEEL YOUR MIND. The beginning step is establishing the mental illness awareness to rural residents by creating social campaigns. These campaigns will be displayed in the high traffic street, bus stop, subway station, and also main social media platform, such as TikTok and Webo. The main idea is building a big picture of mental illness.
Design Approaches
Consider human's brain as a whole, mentally ill individuals have the different reacting areas and abnormal activities in their brains and their mental reactions are vary. Thus, I decided to use geomatic shapes to indicate the different reacting areas in their brains by using triangle, circle, and square. These shapes are the metaphors for the differences between normal brains and abnormal brains.

Subway Campaigns
Public space, subway station
"FEEL YOUR MIND" Education Program first design intervention is using graphic languages to depict the public stigmatizing attitudes attached to mental illness. These social campaigns will also display at high traffic areas, like subway or bus stop to attract people's attention.
Social Media Platform
Chinese social media: Weibo & TikTok
As rural residents take social media as their primary resources, especially Weibo and TikTok, the social posts can integrate the influences and shape people's mind. People also can read celebrities stories in an interactive way through digital platform.
